Early Life and Career Beginnings

Born on February 22, 1984, in Bhagalpur, Bihar, Gurmeet Choudhary comes from a military background; his father, Sitaram Choudhary, was a retired Subedar Major in the Indian Army. Due to his father's transfers, he spent his childhood in various cities, including Jabalpur and Chennai. He developed a passion for acting early on, even winning the "Mr. Jabalpur" title. Choudhary moved to Mumbai to pursue his acting career, where he faced initial struggles, including sleeping on the floor of a film institute. His first television roles were in shows like Yeh Meri Life Hai (2004) and the Tamil serial Mayavi (2006).

Rise to Fame

Choudhary's breakthrough came with his portrayal of Lord Rama in the 2008 television series Ramayan. The mythological show made him a national sensation and established his on-screen chemistry with actress Debina Bonnerjee, who played Sita. Following this success, he starred in two of the most popular daily soaps on Indian television:

  • Geet – Hui Sabse Parayi (2010–2011): He played the iconic role of Maan Singh Khurana, a cold and successful business tycoon.
  • Punar Vivaah - Zindagi Milegi Dobara (2012–2013): He took on the role of Yash Suraj Pratap Sindhia, a widowed father who enters into a second marriage.
Reality Television and Dance

Gurmeet has also made a significant mark in the world of reality television, demonstrating his skills as a performer and competitor.

The couple has two daughters, Lianna and Divisha, born in 2022. He is also actively involved in humanitarian work and was recently honored with the Bihar Gaurav Award in July 2025 for his contributions.
