Early Life and Career with Blackpink

Lalisa Manobal was born Pranpriya Manobal in Buriram, Thailand, and raised in Bangkok as an only child. Her birth name was legally changed to Lalisa on the advice of a fortune teller, which means "the one being praised" in Thai, for good luck. Her stepfather, Marco Brüschweiler, is a renowned Swiss chef. Lisa's passion for dance was evident from a young age; she began taking dance classes at four and competed regularly in dance contests. She was part of a dance crew called "We Zaa Cool" with her childhood friend and fellow future K-pop idol, BamBam of GOT7. She attended the prestigious Praphamontree School I and II, with tuition fees of up to $19,500 a year.

In 2010, at the age of 13, Lisa auditioned for YG Entertainment in Thailand. Out of 4,000 applicants, she was the only one to pass, and she moved to South Korea in 2011 to begin her training. She was YG's first non-Korean trainee, and she trained for five years in dancing, singing, rapping, and language before her debut. Lisa officially debuted as a member of the girl group Blackpink in 2016. As the group's lead rapper and main dancer, she quickly became a fan favorite.

The group's debut single album, Square One, was an immediate success with hits like "Boombayah" and "Whistle." As a member of Blackpink, Lisa has helped the group achieve massive global fame, sell millions of albums, and set numerous records, including being the first K-pop girl group to headline the Coachella music festival.

Solo Music Career and Business Ventures

In 2021, Lisa made her highly anticipated solo debut with the single album Lalisa. The title track's music video broke YouTube records, becoming the most-viewed music video by a solo artist in 24 hours. The album's B-side track, "Money," also became a viral global hit, charting in multiple countries and solidifying her status as a successful solo artist.

Following the expiration of her individual contract with YG Entertainment in 2023, Lisa became a free agent for her solo career. She wasted no time establishing her own management company, LLOUD, in February 2024. This move gave her full creative control over her music and future projects. In April 2024, she signed a partnership with RCA Records, a subsidiary of Sony Music, to release her solo music. Her first full studio album, Alter Ego, was released on February 28, 2025. The album features a conceptual theme, with Lisa exploring five different "alter egos" named Roxi, Kiki, Vixi, Sunni, and Speedi, each with their own unique style and corresponding tracks. The album includes collaborations with major artists like Rosalía, Tyla, Doja Cat, and Raye.

Fashion, Acting, and Philanthropy

Beyond her musical career, Lisa is a prominent figure in the fashion world, known for her bold and chic style. She has been a global ambassador for luxury brands such as Celine, Bulgari, and MAC Cosmetics. Her influence and popularity have made her one of the most followed K-pop idols on social media, with over 100 million followers on Instagram.

In 2025, she expanded her career into acting, making her debut in the HBO series The White Lotus, which was filmed in her home country of Thailand. In the series, she plays Mook, a hotel wellness adviser. This marked a new chapter in her career, showcasing her versatility as an entertainer.
