Premanand Ji Maharaj, born Aniruddh Kumar Pandey, is a revered Indian spiritual master and a Rasik saint of the Radha Vallabh Sampradaya. He has become a global spiritual icon, followed by millions for his profound wisdom and his life's unwavering testament to devotion (Bhakti). His teachings, delivered with simplicity and deep conviction, focus on the path of selfless love for Radha and Krishna, inspiring a wide range of followers from all walks of life.
Personal & Spiritual Journey- Birth & Early Life: Born on October 11, 1969, in the village of Akhri, Uttar Pradesh, to a pious Brahmin family. His father, Pan Singh, and his grandfather were deeply religious men who later took sanyasa. Even in his childhood, Premanand Ji's spiritual inclination was evident, and he began questioning the purpose of life at an early age.
- Renunciation: At the tender age of 13, he left home in search of spiritual truth. His initial years were spent as a seeker on the banks of the Ganga in Varanasi, where he lived a life of severe austerity, meditating on the river's ghats without concern for food or clothing.
- Path to Vrindavan: His spiritual journey led him to Vrindavan, the sacred land of Lord Krishna. Here, he was initiated into the Radha Vallabh Sampradaya and received the "Nij Mantra" from his Sadgurudev, Shri Hit Gaurangi Sharanji Maharaj, and embraced the path of a Rasik saint, which focuses on the "Sahachari Bhava"—the feeling of being a companion to Shri Radha.
Premanand Ji Maharaj's philosophy is rooted in Sanatan Dharma, with a central emphasis on the path of Prem Bhakti (selfless devotion). His discourses, known as Satsangs, are widely circulated on digital platforms and provide practical guidance for modern life.
- Radha-Naam Mahima: He teaches that chanting the name "Radha" is the simplest and most powerful way to attain divine love and spiritual liberation.
- Brahmacharya: He considers celibacy (Brahmacharya) to be the cornerstone of a spiritual life, providing the mental and physical purity required to pursue the path of devotion.
- Guru's Grace: He emphasizes that the grace of a Guru is paramount. He teaches that a Guru's acceptance is a divine blessing that cannot be denied by God himself.
- Humility and Simple Living: He continuously stresses the importance of humility and selfless service (Sewa). He teaches that a clean conscience, a pure heart, and service without any expectation are essential for spiritual upliftment.
- Ashram: He established the Shri Hit Radha Keli Kunj Trust in 2016, which serves as his ashram and a spiritual center in Vrindavan. The ashram is located on the Parikrama Marg, opposite the Bhaktivedanta Hospice.
- Daily Schedule: His days are structured around his spiritual practices. He begins his day with his morning Satsang from 4:15 AM to 5:45 AM, followed by private discussions (Ekantik Vartalaap) and other spiritual activities. Due to health concerns and increasing crowds, his famous 2:00 AM Pad Yatra has been discontinued, and he now commutes by car for his morning Satsangs.
- Darshan & Wait Time: Darshan (a meeting with him) is highly sought after. Devotees often face a waiting period of up to a year for a personal meeting, and the daily darshan for the general public requires an early arrival for a token, which is given on a first-come, first-served basis.
A significant and deeply inspiring part of his life is his profound spiritual strength in the face of physical ailments. Premanand Ji Maharaj has been living with kidney failure for over 20 years, a condition attributed to Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD). Despite undergoing daily dialysis for up to five hours, he has not allowed his health to deter him. He has been reported to have named his two failed kidneys "Radha" and "Krishna," symbolizing his complete spiritual surrender.
Notable Followers & InfluencePremanand Ji's teachings have attracted a diverse range of high-profile followers, who have publicly spoken about their reverence for him.
- Virat Kohli & Anushka Sharma: The power couple has visited him on multiple occasions. During a visit, Anushka reportedly asked him, "Kya naam jap se ho jayega?" ("Will chanting the name be enough?"), to which he replied that it was indeed the most powerful path.
- Shilpa Shetty & Raj Kundra: The couple's visit gained significant media attention. Raj Kundra, deeply moved by Premanand Ji's resilience, publicly offered to donate one of his kidneys to him, an offer he reportedly declined.
