Daler Mehndi was born on August 18, 1967, in Patna, Bihar, into a Punjabi Sikh family with a seven-generation musical lineage. At the age of 11, influenced by the Patiala Gharana style of music, he ran away from home to be trained by the renowned Ustad Raahat Ali Khan. In the early 1990s, he formed his own music group and started performing at private events. The Patiala court upheld the conviction in 2022, and he was taken into custody. However, he was later granted bail by the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
